Sexual Disorders: A Treatment Update

Description:

Participants will receive up-to-date information from an expert in the treatment of intimacy, sexuality, and relationship issues. The presentation will cover essential skills in assessing and working with sexual disorders including hypo- and hypersexual issues, sexual dysfunctions, sex addiction, pornography, and the relational and attachment issues which contribute to these conditions.  


Learning Objectives

Therapists will be able to:

  • Describe adaptations to the original model of sex therapy delineated by Masters & Johnson.

  • Understand the contributors of disorganized attachment and resulting dissociation to the development of sexual disorders.

  • Summarize current treatment interventions for hypersexuality, sex addiction and pornography addiction.

  • Discuss contributions to hyposexuality secondary to relational and individual distress, including early developmental trauma.

Presenter Bio

With more than 30 years of experience and a doctoral degree in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Schwartz specializes in working with 1) couples, marriage, and intimacy disorders; 2) family difficulties; 3) eating disorders, 4)PTSD, addiction, and; 5) sexual difficulties, sexual dysfunction, and sexual addiction. His national recognition afforded him the experience of lecturing to over 50,000 therapists nationally, as well as editing three books. He specializes also in working with the deeper issues from childhood. He is extremely compassionate and forms exceptional connections with his clients.

Dr. Schwartz was the Director of Masters & Johnson Institute and Masters & Johnson Trauma and Dissociative Disorders Programs.  He was trained directly by sex experts Masters & Johnson for treatment of sexual dysfunction and lack of sexual desire and arousal.

Clinical specialties include: Trauma, with 20 years of experience in working with PTSD, including, but not limited to sexual abuse and military sexual abuse. Addictions specialist, including eating disorders, sexual addiction, codependency, chemical dependency, and self-harm. Dr. Schwartz is skilled in treating disorders related to intimacy, sexuality, and relationships, as well as Family-focused Therapies.

Course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credits for LMFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and/or LCSWs, as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Information on Continuing Education Credit for Health Professionals

  • The California Board of Behavioral Sciences accepts CE credits for LCSW, LPCC, LEP, and LMFT license renewal for programs offered by approved sponsors of CE by the American Psychological Association.
  • LCSW, LPCC, LEP, and LMFTs, and other mental health professionals from states other than California need to check with their state licensing board as to whether or not they accept programs offered by approved sponsors of CE by the American Psychological Association.

REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY:
You may cancel for a full refund up to 15 days in advance of the event, or a 50% refund between 5 and 14 days in advance of the event. No refunds for cancellations within 4 days of the event or for no-shows or failure to attend due to emergencies. Unused funds cannot be applied to future workshops. All requests for refunds must be submitted by email at mccamft@gmail.com.
