Monterey County Chapter |
Membership
Who can become a member of MC-CAMFT?
Membership is open to all MFTs, Pre-licensed trainees and interns, and Associates (LCSWs, Ph.Ds, etc.).
How do I become a member of MC-CAMFT?
You must first be a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists). To join our local chapter click on Join Us! right here or on the menu to the left, and follow the instructions for online registration.
What is the difference between CAMFT and MC-CAMFT?
CAMFT is the state organization representing Marriage and Family Therapists. MC-CAMFT is the Monterey County (local) chapter of CAMFT and is a separate organization which offers continuing education, networking opportunities and more personal contact with colleagues in your geographic area.
Operating funds for the two organizations are entirely separate. You can participate in many of our activities and workshops without being a member of MC-CAMFT, but to receive all the benefits of membership, you will need to join MC-CAMFT.
See About Us for Benefits of Membership.
How will MC-CAMFT benefit me?
MC-CAMFT offers opportunities to network, to develop personal and professional relationships with other clinicians, and the opportunity to secure referrals through listings in our printed Member Directory. Our regular luncheon meetings provide and opportunity to meet colleagues and to promote your services to the local professional mental health community. See more benefits of membership at About Us.
How long does a membership last?
Membership runs one year from the date of joining. This encourages you to join anytime you want. A notice will be sent to you one month prior to your membership expiring. You will then need to renew, as our memberships are not self-renewing.
Can I attend a luncheon meeting without being a member?
Absolutely; guests are always welcome, space permitting. Reservations must be placed in advance, by noon of the Monday prior. Visit our Event Calendar to place a reservation
I am a former member whose membership has lapsed; how do I rejoin?
You are welcome to re-join at any time. Simply click on Membership Registration on the menu on the left of the page, and follow the instructions.
If I am unable to attend the monthly luncheon presentations can MC-CAMFT still be of benefit to me?
Yes, you will still receive the chapter newsletter and will be listed in our online and printed directories. Our directories are distributed widely in our community to schools, physicians and attorneys to assist them in making appropriate referrals.
Does MC-CAMFT offer CEUs?
Yes, CEUs can be obtained in two ways. Our monthly luncheon meetings (held each month except July, October and December) include a presentation on a topic related to our profession. Attendees can obtain 1.5 hours of CE for a small additional fee.
Our annual full day workshop in October typically offers 6 CE hours.
Pre-Licensed
As a pre-licensed trainee or associate, how does joining MC-CAMFT benefit me?
The benefits of membership for pre-licensed members include:
You may also attend our monthly luncheon meetings and receive our newsletter and directory. All meetings and special events provide a forum for networking, finding job opportunities and connecting with mentors.
I'm looking for an Internship; can MC-CAMFT aid in my search?
Yes. We provide access to job search sites and information. Chapter meetings also provide opportunities for networking and job announcements.
At the beginning of each of our virtual and in-person meetings, there is time for members to make announcements such as placement opportunities. Salons, which can occur as frequently as every other month, can also offer the opportunity for you to introduce yourself, meet other associates and trainees, and network.
How do I learn more about MC-CAMFT's Mentorship Program?
